UFA Co-operative pledges support for STARS

You can help too - UFA Giving Together Opportunity: STARS

At UFA we understand how hockey unites our rural communities. The hockey arena is where we build lasting relationships that make the chilly five a.m. bleachers seem a little warmer.  Hockey is why we gather at the concession to catch up over rink coffee.  From early mornings to late nights in rural communities tied together by fields and rinks, hockey's more than a game. For many of us, it's our family.

"Nothing matters more than our families. Everyone here at UFA is devastated by the news of the crash that took 16 members of the Humboldt Broncos family. We are all pulling for the 14 more who are injured," says Carol Kitchen, President and CEO. "I echo the sentiment of every Canadian, and every hockey fan, when I share our condolences and extend our support and strength to the families affected by this tragedy. Our hearts are with you all."

Humboldt BroncosTo honour the legacy of the Humboldt Broncos, UFA has donated $5,000 to STARS Air Ambulance in recognition of the tremendous efforts of the first responders. We are deeply grateful to STARS and all the men and women who give of themselves, on the front lines, and who choose to be in service to those in need. "UFA is supporting STARS so they can continue to serve our rural communities and in recognition of them being there for the Humboldt Broncos," said Kitchen.

"When you support STARS, you help ensure we can be there in moments of crisis like we saw that Friday evening," said Andrea Robertson, President and CEO, STARS. "Before a helicopter can lift off, before a crew member can don a flight suit, before a ventilator can be turned on, we rely on the support of the community, including individuals and organizations like you."

Our co-operative encourages all members to honour the legacy of the Humboldt Broncos and support STARS Air Ambulance by visiting the UFA Community Impact Portal, and clicking on the Humboldt Broncos UFA Giving Together Opportunity.
