Rural Communities Foundation Grant 2023 Winners Announced!

Four Alberta communities received outstanding news over the weekend! They will share a healthy $100,000, courtesy of the Rural Communities Foundation (RCF) grant.

The mandate of the Foundation is to improve the sustainability of farmers and ranchers in Alberta by improving access to funding for educational, recreational and cultural facilities, and programs in Alberta. Over the past five years, the RCF has fulfilled its mandate by awarding $500,000 in grant money to deserving rural communities.

The communities sharing this year’s $100,000 grant include The Cotillion Butte Recreation Association, The Wembley and District Agricultural Society, The Friends of Morrin School Council and The New Brigden Community Association.

“Choosing just four winners was difficult for the judges. The strong applicants from across the province show the vibrancy of rural Alberta and the residents who are committed to keeping rural Alberta sustainable,” said RCF board chair, Jennifer Wood.

“Through these applications, we saw the strength of rural communities and the commitment by volunteers to keep their communities a place to live, work and play.”

UFA congratulates this year’s recipients and the previous RCF grant winners. Giving back to our membership is a key co-operative value and the RCF is just one more demonstration of how we live our values by supporting rural communities. We are grateful to the RCF for supporting rural communities in meaningful ways, and together, we can look back on the past five years with pride, knowing that we enriched the communities we serve. Many exciting things are on the horizon; please watch for the launch of new program announcements in 2024.
