May 15, 2017—Spirit River, AB—Given the size and requirements needed of today’s large modern commercial and farm vehicles, the Spirit River UFA Petroleum Agency is undertaking a complete renovation of the facility to include a gas and diesel Cardlock offering.
The existing agency infrastructure will be taken down — meaning the removal of the current buildings and equipment— and is being replaced by a Cardlock only facility at the same location. The redesign of the facility makes better use of the current agency site. It offers both large and small gas and diesel vehicles better access to the site, and alleviates the congestion which sometimes occurs during busy seasonal times.
“UFA is committed to reinvesting in our infrastructure,” said Steven Marshall, Director of Petroleum Operations at UFA. “The rebuild at Spirit River allows us to better serve our customers in the area with a gas and diesel cardlock offering, and at the same time provides an opportunity to replace existing outdated infrastructure and mitigate environmental concerns.”
“UFA is very happy to be able to rebuild at Spirit River, and it is thanks to the continued support of our customers and hard work of our agents over the years that we are able to do so,” said Owen Payeur, Petroleum Area Manager at UFA. “What people will see will certainly be different than what has been there for many years. UFA has a responsibility to look after the needs of our petroleum customers, to be environmental stewards, and to make decisions that are also in the best interest of the Co-operative. This project allows us to do that.”
Construction begins near the beginning of June and will continue for the duration of the summer. Throughout the rebuild, customers can visit the Rycroft UFA Petroleum Agency for all of their fuel requirements.
