announced a yearlong celebration commemorating its first century in business Today marks the 100 day countdown to the organization's 100 year anniversary on January 14 2009 The cooperative plans to mark its rich legacy of innovation and continuing success by giving back to the community through numerous events celebrations and commemorations throughout the year Visual symbol of the values we embrace At today's news conference UFA Director Bill Dobson unveiled the logo that will become synonomous with UFA's centennial celebrations The logo is representative of a coverall snap reflecting hard and honest work – core values of UFA The logo visually incorporates today's signature UFA colours a historical maple leaf and an outline of the province of Alberta The rendition unveiled today is four feet in diameter cast of high density resin signboard weighs more than 100 pounds and will be permanently installed at UFA's Calgary Support Office “A century of history only matters if it will open at the Provincial Archives of Alberta on January 14 and will run until the end of March A full colour centennial book is being created authored by the former coordinator of the United Farmer's Historical Society Gordon Tolton It will feature a photographic perspective of the UFA and the people and communities we've served over the past 100 years Our Farm and Ranch stores will also offer a variety of promotional and gift items to commemorate our Centennial Making life better in rural Alberta for 100 years Beginning in 1909 the founders of the co operative saw opportunities as
