Alberta Farm Safety Centre
UFA is committed to ensuring a safe and healthy future for Alberta’s rural communities. That’s why we’re teaming up with the Alberta Farm Safety Centre to promote safe farming practices to our co-operative’s future leaders – Alberta’s youth.
Farm safety has always been a priority for our co-operative. In partnering with the Alberta Farm Safety Centre, we are enabling them to reach over 40,000 children, across Alberta’s rural communities. The program, entitled UFA Safety Smarts, provides farm safety educators with the tools they need to travel to schools across rural Alberta and educate children, grades kindergarten to six, about the risks associated with rural living and how to stay safe on their family farms. With one in five farm-related injuries and fatalities involving a child, our hope is that the UFA Safety Smarts program will help to keep children from rural communities healthy and safe.
We believe that this initiative is a solid investment in the future of rural Alberta and our co-operative’s leaders of tomorrow.
